Money saving tip: Swagbucks

I need to tell you about a great deal that Mary and I get. It's called Swagbucks. Swagbucks is an internet search engine, powered by Google, except that you get points, or Swagbucks when you search. If you build up enough swagbucks, you can get free stuff.

Mary and I always choose the $5 Starbucks giftcards, which costs about 50 swagbucks. In January, Mary received $15 worth of giftcards. We just received our first $5 giftcard for February. It sure is a good deal for something we do anyway, and it cuts down on our costs to supplement Mary's coffee addiction! We average about $10-$15 in giftcards every month, just by searching through their website!

If you're not a coffee drinker, there are tons of other items in there, like Amazon.com giftcards (which Mary and I will start using for diapers when we have kids!), baseball cards, Barnes & Noble, and plenty of other stuff.

How I was paid $7.78 to shop at Rite Aid

In this week's mail, I received a $6 SCR check from Rite Aid and the $10 gift card. So, I went out to purchase this week's freebies. On top of that, Rite Aid also has a $5 off your $20 purchase printable coupon.

They only had 2 of the $1.99 chewable Bayer, and I only had 2 $1/1 coupons, so I had to buy one Bayer at $4.99. Plus, I couldn't find the Durex condoms coupon.

But by the end of my order, the total came to $13.21 after tax. I used my $10 gift card to knock it down to $3.21 OOP (not bad, considering I have a $6 rebate check from last month). Now, I can submit the receipt for $10.99 in rebates and another $10 gift card!!

I was emailed two coupons from CVS this week. One is $5 off my $30 purchase. The other is a BONUS $4 off my $20 purchase. I called and CVS said I can use both coupons on one transaction -- the $4 coupon is a bonus!! I also have $9.99 in ECB's.

Glucerna Cereal - $5 off coupon

If you register with Glucerna, you'll get a $5 off Glucerna cereal coupon. You can print it off twice (just hit the backspace button after printing it the first time). Glucerna cereal often goes on sale for less than $5, so you should be able to get a couple boxes for free.

Chex Mix coupon - $1 off

Here's a link to a printable coupon for $1 off Chex Mix. The link allows you to print it twice (after you're done printing it, hit backspace, and it will print again). Chex Mix goes on sale for $1 quite a bit (often during Meijer's 10/$10 deals), so hold onto the coupons and wait to get it for free.

McDonald's Freebies

Sorry about not updating my blog much lately. It's tax season, and it's difficult to find time. Anyway, here's two freebies at McDonald's that Mary particularly likes:

• Every Monday through Friday, from 2 to 5 PM, McDonald's is giving away 2-for-1 drinks. Sodas, Mochas, Lattes, Cappuccinos...anything!
• And every morning, from 5-8 AM, McDonald's is giving away FREE brewed or iced coffee for the entire month!! The problem, though, is that not every region is carrying this deal. Hopefully, the one near you does. Pick one up every day on the way to work!
